TechGirls Summer Exchange Program
TechGirls is an international summer exchange program designed to empower and inspire young women from around the world to pursue careers in science and technology. The core of the program is a 23-day experience in the United States.
Participants will engage in an interactive technology and computer camp at Virginia Tech, then travel to a specific U.S. city (such as Austin, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, or Seattle) for job shadowing and community immersion. The program includes a 7-month mentoring program (pre- and post-exchange).
Benefits:
Visa fee coverage.
Roundtrip international airfare.
Housing (dormitory and hotel) and meals.
Emergency health insurance.
Cultural events and local transportation.
Eligibility Requirements:
Aged 15–17 at the start of the exchange (Born between July 12, 2008, and July 11, 2011).
Demonstrated advanced skills and interest in STEM.
Intention to pursue higher education/career in technology.
Strong English language skills.
Citizen and resident of an eligible country.
Eligible Countries USA and 37 countries across these regions:
MENA: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Tunisia.
Sub-Saharan Africa: Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia.
EAP: Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Mongolia, Taiwan, Vietnam.
Europe/Eurasia: Albania, Cyprus, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, Türkiye.
Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
Western Hemisphere: Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Suriname.
Note: The program is capped at the first 125 complete applications per country.
